Bryson DeChambeau should be seriously concerned for The Open after the opening round in Scotland. He has missed the cut at all three major championships so far this year.

What happened at the Scottish Open?

The first day of action at The Renaissance Club saw Rory McIlroy tied for the lead, while Brooks Koepka is one shot adrift.

Jon Rahm is currently tied for 137th after posting a three over par round of 73. David Puig is two shots further back on five over par.

Why it matters for Bryson DeChambeau

DeChambeau's record at The Open is not impressive, with his two top 10s coming after he started the final day on the outside. He has never seriously contended for the Claret Jug.

Johnson Wagner thinks DeChambeau will miss the cut, and it's easy to see why. DeChambeau is practicing away from the spotlight, with videos circulating on social media claiming he is filming a YouTube video in Canada.

What comes next for Bryson DeChambeau?

DeChambeau cannot afford to get off to another slow start at an Open Championship. He did an incredible job just to make the cut at Royal Portrush 12 months ago after a truly awful start in Northern Ireland.

Perhaps he will surprise everyone at Royal Birkdale. He always has the potential to steal the show. But if how the LIV players have started the Scottish Open is anything to go by, his Open Championship woes are almost certainly set to continue.

The LIV contingent were far from the only players to toil on the first day at the Scottish Open. But it is alarming that Tom McKibbin is the only player from the league currently inside the top 50.

It is perhaps a sign that some LIV players have not found it easy not playing a single tournament since the US Open at Shinnecock Hills. But the good news for those players is that they are going to be better prepared for The Open Championship by playing a links event the week before.

The same cannot be said for Bryson DeChambeau. He is under enormous pressure going into The Open Championship, and his decision to practice away from the spotlight may come back to haunt him.
